BCCI announces Central Contract of Women Cricketers

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has released a new contract list of women cricketers for the year 2024-25. This time the BCCI has announced an annual central contract to 16 women players of Team India.
Which cricketer in which category?
The BCCI has divided the central contract list of women cricketers into three categories. 3 out of 16 players are kept in grade A. At the same time, 4 players in Grade B have managed to make their place. Apart from these, 9 players have been given a place in grade C. This contract is from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025. BCCI has given Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma a place in Grade A category besides captain Harmanpreet in Grade A. At the same time, 4 players have got a place in B grade. These 4 players are Renuka Thakur, Jemima Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh and Shefali Verma. Apart from these, Yastika Bhatia, Radha Yadav, Shreyanka Patil, Titas Sadhu, Arundhati Reddy, Amanjot Kaur, Uma Chhetri, Sneh Rana and Pooja Vastrakar have been kept in grade C. Who will get how much money?
In the Central Contract Grade A of women players, Harman Preet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma will get (Rs 50 lakh). Grade B consists of Renuka Thakur, Jemima Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh and Shefali Verma who will get 30 lakhs annually. In Grade C, Yastika Bhatia, Radha Yadav, Shreyanka Patil, Titas Sadhu, Arundhati Reddy, Amanjot Kaur, Uma Chhetri, Sneh Rana and Pooja Vastrakar will get 10 million per annum.
Male cricketers get 7 times more money
The amount that the board gives in different grades like Rohit, Virat, Gill, Hardik is seven times more. According to a report, men’s contract amount increased by seven times in five years, women cricketers get less than men in three times Australia, England and other countries. However, efforts are being made to reduce this gap continuously. On the other hand, the gap in India is increasing. In 2015-16, women players in India got a contract for the first time. Then the top -grade female player was given 15 lakhs. At that time, the top grade male cricketer used to get 1 crore rupees. That is, in the next five years, the contract amount of men increased by 7 times, while the contract amount of women increased by about 3 times.
