Mukul Choudhary Dedicates Ruthless Knock Vs KKR To ‘Idol’ MS Dhoni

mukul choudhary dedicates ruthless knock vs kkr to 'idol' ms dhoni

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Sensation Mukul Choudhary pulled off a heist against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) with a brilliant unbeaten 54 in 27 balls. Chasing 182, LSG were in all sorts of trouble when Mukul came in to bat at 104-5 in 13 overs, and further sank to 128-7 in 16 overs, needing 55 in four overs, with Avesh Khan at the other end. If LSG had to pull off a win, it was on Mukul to play a blinder, and he did it. He smashed two sixes of Karthik Tyagi in the 18th over, and then took 16 off Cameron Green in the penultimate over. Needing 14 in the last over, Mukul hit a couple of sixes off Vaibhav Arora to seal the game for LSG on the last ball.

After the brilliant knock, Mukul revealed that he draws inspiration from MS Dhoni, and also dedicated the knock to the veteran and his father. “I used to watch how MS Dhoni would finish games,” Mukul said during the post-match conference. “I bat at the same number. He inspired me early in my career, I finished the game and would dedicate it to him”.

Mukul hit seven sixes during the knock and revealed that he tries to hit 100-150 sixes daily. “My body has a bit more natural power, but I practice as well – hitting 100 to 150 sixes daily – it develops if you keep practicing it regularly. For the last 5-6 months specifically, I have been working a lot on it, so it’s now developed.”

LSG Coach Justin Langer Reveals How Team Scoutet Mukul Choudhary

Following the stellar knock, LSG coach Justin Langer revealed how the franchise scouted Choudhary. He revealed Mukul was spotted by the team’s performance analyst during the training camp, who forced Langer to go for him in the IPL auction.

“Oh, we saw him earlier at a training camp a few months ago, the first time we picked him up. There’s so much talent in this country. A big shout-out goes to Shrinivas, our data analyst, who said, ‘Coach, we’ve got to get this kid.’ So we did, and we were lucky to,” Langer told Faf du Plessis in a broadcaster’s interview after LSG’s win.

LSG paid 2.60 crore for Choudhary, and the investment immediately paid off. Langer lauded Choudhary and said that he’s a real athlete, adding that he runs like Virat Kohli and has a game sense similar to players who have played far more matches.

“What I love most about him is that he’s a real athlete. The way he runs between the wickets is elite, like Virat. But the other thing is his game sense. We’ve had some practice games, and the way he talks about the game feels like he’s played 300 matches already. He’s got power, he’s a great athlete, and he’s got grace. As we both know, that’s a pretty good combination.”

“He’s played a bit of cricket, not a heap though. But there are very few players like the Tim Davids and the Andre Russells. I’m not even going to compare him, but those kinds of players build careers around finishing games. That’s how he’s grown up playing. He’s used to finishing games, he thinks about it, and he’s only 22 years old. He’s so young, but he’s got that look in his eyes. He’s hungry. His parents and family will be very proud of him today, you try so hard, and this will be a massive moment in his life and career.
