Kolkata Knight Riders’ veteran all-rounder Sunil Narine has created a massive record even before taking the field agianst Mumbai Indians in match 2 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026), which is being played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, on March 29 (Sunday). He surpassed his former Windies teammate and MI’s veteran superstar Kieron Pollard to become the most-capped overseas player in the cash-rich league.
Narine Creates History
After KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane confirmed that Sunil Narine will be part of the playing XI, the Windies star became the most-capped overseas player in the IPL. He is now featuring in his 190th IPL match, surpassing Pollard, who has featured in 189 IPL matches.

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first against KKR. At toss, Rahane revealed that Sunil Narine, Cameron Green, Blessing Muzarabani, and Finn Allen will be his four overseas stars in this clash against the five-time champions.
“We were looking to bowl, never seen this amount of grass at Wankhede. Preparations have been good, couple of camps in Kolkata and in Mumbai as well. Know that MI is a champion team and we’re looking forward to be playing against them. Just stay at the moment and don’t look at the past. A couple of injuries – we’re going with 6 batters and 5 bowlers. Four overseas players – Cameron Green, Finn Allen, Sunil Narine and Blessing Muzarabani,” said. Ajinkya Rahane at the toss.
