Randy Orton is likely to have a partner who might help him defeat Cody Rhodes and capture the Undisputed WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 42. He has been speaking to a mystery man over the phone since turning heel. The mystery man is set to make an appearance on this week’s Smackdown. Many fans believe that the mystery man could be none other than The Rock. The People’s Champion has been away from WWE since the Elimination Chamber 2025. The Rock was involved in Cody Rhodes’ storyline before Wrestlemania 41. John Cena sold his soul to The Rock and attacked Cody after winning the Chamber.
The Rock looked set to make an appearance at Wrestlemania 41 and help Cena win the title. But he skipped the biggest show of the year. The fans are expecting The Rock to make an appearance at Wrestlemania 42.
However, the Wrestling Observer Radio has reported that The Rock is not the mystery man. The WWE sources have denied The Rock’s involvement. Of course, the plans could change. But for now, The Rock isn’t the mystery man.
The Rock’s previous WWE match
The Rock made a shocking WWE return to the first Raw of 2024 and seemingly challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Universal Championship. WWE couldn’t book this match as the fans rallied behind Cody.
Instead of facing his cousin, The Rock teamed up with Reigns against Cody and Seth Rollins. He pinned the American Nightmare to win the night 1 main event of the show.
The Rock also made an appearance during the night 2 main event, where Reigns lost the title to Cody. The Rock wasn’t in the plans to compete at Wrestlemania 41 and he won’t be part of the in-ring action at Wrestlemania 42 either.
The Rock hasn’t retired from the in-ring action and the fans expect him to face Reigns once before he calls it quits. Reigns will once again be part of the main event and he will challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship. The title match between Cody and Randy will close the first night of the show.
