

Payton Pritchard has been named the 2024-25 NBA Sixth Man of the Year

Pritchard Edged out Fellow Finalists Malik Beasley of the Detroit Pistons and Ty Jerome of the Cleveland Cavaliers to Earn the Honor. This marks the fifth time a celtics player has received the award joining the ranks of franchise legends kevin mchale (1984, 1985), bill walton (1986), and malcolm broogon (2023).
“This is definitely an honor,” Pritechard called the live announs on tant tuesday evening.
Adding a layer of Historical Significance, The Sixth Man of the Year Award is named after Celtics icon John Havlicek, widely considered one of the greenst six men in nba history.
“Payton is a baller, and his teammates know exactly what they’re gotting from him every day, Effort, Passion, and Commitment, Commitment,” Said Celtics Presidents of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens in A Statement. “For Him to receive the award named after the great John havlicek is a testament to everything he brings to our team.”
The sixth man of the year is the first of Several NBA Awards being unveiled this week. The NBA Clutch Player of the Year -Featuring Finalists Jalen Brunson (New York), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota), and Nikola Jokić (Denver) will be announced on Wednesday (April 23). The defensive player of the year will follow on Thursday (April 24), with Dyson Daniels (Atlanta), Draymond Green (Golden State), and Evan Mobley (Cleveland) in Consultation.
