IPL Chairman Provides Update On Mustafizur Rahman’s Ouster from KKR: ‘Good Sense Will…’

ipl chairman provides update on mustafizur rahman's ouster from kkr: 'good sense will...'

IPL Chairman Arun Singh Dhumal has deemed the ouster of Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from Kolkata Knight Riders as “unfortunate” and hoped that good sense will prevail in the near future. Fizz, the left-arm seamer, was expelled amid the unrest in Bangladesh. This, in turn, led Bangladesh to boycott the T20 World Cup in India.

?Mustafizur was roped in by the KKR after intense bidding with the Chennai Super Kings for INR 9.20 crores in the IPL 2026 mini auction.

“I would only say it was unfortunate. Beyond that, I do not have much knowledge,” said Dhumal in the Financial Times.

“It is unfortunate, I would say, the way things unfold at times. I do not think the government has any interest or any role to play in running cricket day to day. The government is supportive of cricket at large,” he said.

“But, yes, sometimes events happen around us, and decisions follow. I am sure good sense will prevail and that this will not be the case going forward,” he further added.

On a related note, Rahman played for the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025 after being signed as a replacement but did not have a great season. The 30-year-old has played 60 matches in the Indian Premier League and bagged 65 wickets while representing teams like Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, and Delhi Capitals.
