New Delhi: The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) general secretary Devjit Saikia said on Sunday that Guwahati will host the Test match for the first time during the Test series between India and South Africa in November this year.
Saikia also said that Guwahati will also host her first World Cup match during the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup later this year.

Saikia said, ‘No Test and World Cup matches have been played in Guwahati so far. But according to the decision taken in the BCCI’s top council meeting on Saturday, Guwahati will host both such matches this year.
He said that the second match of the two -match Test series between India and South Africa will be played here from November 22 at the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) stadium. In this way, the Guwahati will become the first city in the Northeast to host the Test match.

Saikia said that the ACA Stadium will also host five to six matches of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. He said, ‘The Women’s World Cup will be played from 24 September to 2 November. Its program is still being finalized. Guwahati has been selected as a place for this.
