After a week’s rest, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will make their on-field return and take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in an away fixture at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday (April 5). RCB kicked off their campaign with a dominant win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and chased down the target of 202 in only 15.4 overs. Virat Kohli shone in the chase and remained unbeaten on 69 off 38 balls. Devdutt Padikkal played an impactful knock of 61 off just 26 balls. Jacob Duddy delivered a Player of the Match performance on his IPL debut and scapled 3 wickets for 22 runs in four overs.
With 2 points at an NRR of +2.907, RCB are fourth in the IPL 2026 points table. The defending champions are eyeing a top spot finish to the week by defeating CSK. A win won’t be enough for RCB to move to the top position. Here, we have a look at how RCB can finish the week as the top-placed team –
Rajasthan Royals (RR), Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) are placed ahead of RCB in the points table. These three teams have 4 points each in their account. With an NRR of +2.233, RR top the points table. They are followed by DC (+1.170) and PBKS (+0.637).
RCB have the best NRR in the competition so far. RCB have to defeat CSK by a comfortable margin in the 11th match of IPL 2026 to jump to the top. A close win will have an impact on their RR and they will finish the week in second or third spot in the points table.
RCB will stay in the fourth spot if they suffer a close defeat. A big defeat will have an impact on their position and they can also move down to the sixth spot.
Talking of CSK, they are reeling in the last position with a below-par NRR of -2.562. A win over RCB will see them move to the seventh position. A big win can see them finish the week in the fifth or the sixth position. For now, CSK’s aim would be to finally register their first win of the season. They will continue to miss out on the services of MS Dhoni.
