Mahir Mustafa won the U18 Boys Singles title at the Kerala Open with a straight-games victory over Rishal, closing the final 11-4, 11-6.
Mahir took control early in the match and set the tone with consistent returns and controlled shot placement. He built a lead in the opening game by keeping rallies short and forcing errors from Rishal. His ability to dictate points from the baseline helped him maintain momentum, and he closed the first game 11-4 without facing much resistance.
Rishal attempted to respond in the second game and showed better intent in rallies. He managed to stay closer in the scoreline and extended exchanges, but Mahir remained composed under pressure. His movement on court and ability to finish points at the right time proved decisive.
As the game progressed, Mahir continued to apply pressure with accurate placement and quick transitions to the net. Rishal struggled to break the rhythm and fell behind in the latter stages of the game. Mahir maintained control and closed out the match 11-6 to secure the title.
The final highlighted Mahir Mustafa’s consistency and match control. He showed composure in key moments and avoided unnecessary errors, which allowed him to stay ahead throughout the contest.
With this win, Mahir adds the U18 Boys Singles title at the Kerala Open to his record. His performance underlined his growing presence in the junior circuit and he will look to build on this result in upcoming tournaments.
