CaP’s Pickleball Championship – 1.0, an Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) sanctioned PWR 200 event, is set to be held in Coimbatore on April 25-26.
The tournament marks a significant step in the steady expansion of the sport’s competitive footprint in southern India, with Coimbatore emerging as a growing hub for racquet sports in Tamil Nadu. Over the two days, the venue is expected to host an engaging mix of rising talent and seasoned campaigners, all vying for crucial ranking points and prize money.

60 players have registered for the event, underlining the increasing traction pickleball is gaining at the domestic level. The entries are spread across ten categories, with an average of 18 players per category, ensuring competitive draws and closely fought matches throughout the tournament.
Among the notable names in the fray are Sanjay VR, Dakshin Raj, Sai Samhitha, Kannan Sethu, Vishnu Raja, Charanya, and Arun Prashanth. Their presence is expected to add both quality and intrigue to the competition, particularly in a format where adaptability and quick reflexes often make the difference in tight contests.
While the numbers reflect healthy participation, it is the human element – the stories of ambition, comeback, and breakthrough – that is likely to define the championship. For many players, this event represents more than just a tournament; it is an opportunity to test their progress, gain exposure, and measure themselves against some of the best in the circuit. In a sport still carving out its mainstream identity in India, such tournaments often double up as platforms for discovery.

The prize money, too, adds a competitive edge. Each category carries a prize purse of about Rs 20,000 to 25,000, providing both incentive and recognition for strong performances. While the financial rewards may still be modest compared to more established sports, they signal a growing structure and seriousness within the pickleball ecosystem.
As the countdown begins, there is a quiet sense of anticipation in Coimbatore’s sporting circles. The CaP’s Pickleball Championship – 1.0 is not just another event on the calendar—it is a reflection of a sport on the rise, powered by passionate players and expanding opportunities. Over two days, the courts in Coimbatore will not just host matches, but also moments that could shape the journeys of India’s next wave of pickleball talent.
