rr sweating over vaibhav sooryavanshi after injury during srh clash: watch

Rajasthan Royals (RR) stalwart Vaibhav Sooryavanshi suffered an injury scare and limped off the field during the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is special, we all know, and his full potential was on display against SRH as he tore into the SRH attack and scored a 36-ball hundred. The knock included five fours and 12 colossal sixes. The knock helped him leapfrog KL Rahul to bag the Orange Cap briefly before being taken over by Abhishek Sharma.

Meanwhile, Vaibhav picked up an injury during the third over of the SRH chase. Ishan Kishan lofted a delivery over cover off Jofra Archer. Vaibhav chased the ball, but could not prevent a boundary, and in the process, appeared to pull his hamstring. Vaibhav looked in searing pain and was attended by the medical staff. While he did get on his feet, it was evident that he was struggling to walk. He was later taken off the field.

Tears in KKR Camp! First Win Of IPL 2026 Vs RR Compared To 2024 Title Victory

RR take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) on April 28, and all eyes will be on Vaibhav to see if he recovers in time for the game. Vaibhav has been the cornerstone of RR’s success, but the team won’t rush him at this stage of the tournament, when they are already well placed in the table. RR is yet to issue an official update on Vaibhav. He’ll probably undergo scans and see the extent of injury. If this turns out to be a minor muscle pull, he should be back quickly.

Records Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Created Vs SRH

Meanwhile, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi created a plethora of records during the blitz against SRH.

  • Vaibhav broke the record of the third fastest IPL century, behind his own 35-ball ton and Chris Gayle’s 30-ball century.
  • Vaibhav also went past the 1000 T20 runs and became the youngest to the landmark.
  • The 15-ball fifty by Vaibhav was the joint-fastest in IPL 2026. Vaibhav has scored three 15-ball fifties this season, and Abhishek Sharma has scored one.
  • This was Vaibhav’s fourth T20 hundred, and he became the fastest to the landmark. Usman Khan (33 matches), B Sai Sudharsan (72 matches), Chris Gayle (77 matches) are behind Sooryavanshi (26).
  • Vaibhav hit 12 sixes during the knock, which is a record for most sixes by an Indian in an IPL innings. He broke the record of Murali Vijay, who smashed 11.

RR Lose By Five Wickets

Sooryavanshi’s blitz meant that RR posted a score of 228-6 in 20 overs, but it did not prove sufficient as SRH won by five wickets. After losing Travis Head early, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan put SRH on the brink of a win with a 132-run partnership. Abhishek was out for 57, and Kishan made 74 to seal the game for SRH. This was an important win for SRH as they jumped to third on the points table. RR, on the other hand, stayed at four. Both SRH and RR have 10 points to their names in eight games.

Following the defeat, RR captain Riyag Parag rued poor fielding and dropped catches as the primary reasons for the loss. “I think skill-wise, we executed pretty nicely, but I think we dropped a few too many catches. And quality players like Abhishek and everyone who batted, I feel you can’t really drop catches of them, and you can’t really give them second chances. And they took them, so credit to that. But we could have been better on the field,” he said.
