Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans registered their fourth consecutive win after defeating the Yashasvi Jaiswal-led Rajasthan Royals by a massive margin of 77 runs in match 52 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026), which was being played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, on May 9 (Saturday). GT dropped RR out of the top four and jumped three places up to two in the points table with this big victory. They now have 14 points and are only edged by Sunrisers Hyderabad in terms of NRR. Both teams have 14 points each, but SRH have an NRR of +0.737, and GT currently have +0.228.
This was the second straight loss for the Rajasthan-based franchise, who have now fallen to the 5th spot with 12 points in 11 games. With the race to the playoffs intensified, they will be eager to bounce back and return to the top four. However, as a team which is heavily dependent on their openers will be hoping that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal will lead the team from the front again by turning their knocks big.
This loss has also impacted PBKS and RCB, who have now dropped to the 3rd and 4th place with 13 and 12 points respectively. They too have lost the winning momentum and are eager to bounce back to avoid a fate similar to RR. As for the rest of the points table, there are no changes in particular. CSK and KKR are also giving a tough fight to make it into the playoffs. Whereas, DC, MI and LSG are stuck as the bottom three.
