Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Tim David found himself in hot soup after fans claimed he made an obscene gesture following RCB’s win over the Mumbai Indians (MI). David played three seasons for Mumbai before making a switch to RCB, emerging as one of the mainstays of the batting order. David, however, failed to make an impact in the recent fixture against MI and was dismissed for a first-ball duck.
It was a tense game where RCB needed 15 runs in the final over. After Romario Shepherd was out on the third ball, with RCB still nine runs away, RCB were under pressure, but a magnificent six by Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the first ball he faced turned the game in RCB’s favour. The RCB dug out erupted in celebration when RCB won the last-ball thriller, and David’s reaction caught everyone’s attention.

MI Knocked Out Of IPL 2026
MI fought hard, but they couldn’t beat the defending champions and were knocked out of the playoff race, with just three wins in 11 matches. The team has been let down by the batters, and the story was not different on Sunday, when the team could only score 166-7, courtesy of 57 by Tilak Varma.

RCB didn’t have the best of starts, and Corbin Bosch’s magnificent four-wicket haul kept MI alive for most of the chase, but a fighting knock of 73 by Krunal Pandya was just about enough to take the RCB home. This was RCB’s seventh win after 11 games, and it got them close to a playoff berth.
Will MI Part Ways With Hardik Pandya?
Hardik Pandya has not played for MI in the last two games due to injury. He was named captain ahead of IPL 2024, but the team’s performance under him has been poor. MI now faces a tough ask to retain Pandya as captain for the next season, or look out for a new face who can lead the side in future. In MI’s case, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav or even Tilak Varma can be named the captain of the team.
