The Madhya Pradesh Open, an Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) sanctioned PWR 400 event, is currently underway at the Soft Serve Courts in Indore. The tournament began on May 15 and will conclude on May 17.
With the Madhya Pradesh Open adding to a packed calendar, Indore is fast strengthening its reputation as a pickleball hub in India. The city has already hosted three events this year, including the Madhya Pradesh Open. Earlier this month, Indore hosted the Surya Pickleball PWR 200 and the Surya Pickleball Academy PWR 100 in March.
Rajesh Udawat, a member of the Mayor-in-Council (MIC) who heads the Planning and Information Technology Department of the Indore Municipal Corporation, promised a new pickleball court to help children play the sport.
“I have decided to make a pickleball court in my ward. I will try to make a good place for kids to play. I would like to congratulate all the participants of this tournament,” he told Pickleball Now.
Rajesh, the corporator of ward no. 49 – Tilak Nagar in the city, also underlined the growing popularity of the sport and the city’s enthusiasm.
“Pickleball is the most played sport nowadays. Everywhere talk about pickleball. I saw kids playing in the court today. I am very happy to see kids playing at such a fast pace. From Under-10s to seniors are also playing here,” Rajesh added.

Heaping praise on the organizers of the Madhya Pradesh Open, Rajesh said, “They have organized such a good competition here. They have also given a lot of rewards to the kids.
