Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) will play the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) final which will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday (May 31), with both teams aiming to win their second trophy.
The Bengaluru-based outfit, the defending champions, are aiming to secure back-to-back titles, a feat that has previously only been achieved by Chennai Super Kings (2010 and 2011) alongside Mumbai Indians (2019, 2020). Meanwhile, the Titans could win a second title in only five years and be the first team to win their first two trophies under different captains if Gill lifts the trophy, having won their first under Hardik Pandya’s leadership in 2022.
Both teams lifted their first trophy in Ahmedabad, and one of them will get to lift the second one in the same venue.
This also means that for the 13th time in 16 seasons, the summit clash will be played by the same teams that played the first qualifier. In each of the last seven editions, the winner of the first qualifier lifted the trophy.
It will be the fourth time RCB and GT play each in the 2026 IPL final with two wins for RCB and one for GT. However, the Gujarat-based team won in Ahmedabad, the venue for the final. In fact, Gill’s men had a remarkable home record this season with five wins in seven matches.
This will mark the first instance of the two teams playing each other in the final of an IPL. Overall, it is the third final for the Titans after 2022 and 2023, while the fifth for RCB, having previously played the summit clash in 2009, 2011, 2016, and 2025.
