Gujarat Titans (GT)’s Rashid Khan joined an elite list during the IPL 2026 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and GT at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He is now one of the only two spinners in IPL history to have taken 20 or more wickets in a season four times. He has joined this list with Yuzvendra Chahal, which means Rashid is the first overseas spinner to achieve this epic feat.
The Afghan star continued his outstanding form in the 2026 final against the RCB by dismissing opposition captain Rajat Patidar and Krunal Pandya in the same over, on Sunday, May 31. He eventually finished with the figures of 2/25 in his four-over spell in the final. He gave GT a crucial contribution with the ball, but it was not enough.
RCB Dominate GT
His performance gave GT some hope with the ball in what was otherwise a lop-sided match that did not have much for the former champions. First, RCB restricted GT to 155/8 in the crucial clash. They only had a modest 156-run target in front of them to become the third team to win their second consecutive IPL title.
They will also become the fourth team to win the prestigious title multiple times. However, GT bowlers failed to pose much of a challenge to them and allowed the defending champions to cruise their way through the chase.
Gujarat Titans (GT) became the first team in an IPL final to go 40 balls without scoring a boundary as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) used a range of bowling techniques to limit them. Nishant Sindhu struck a boundary on the fifth ball of the sixth over before the next 40 balls developed into a choking stretch of pressure from RCB. GT managed just 34 runs in those 40 deliveries without ever reaching the fence as they went from 45/2 after six overs to 79/4 after 12.3 overs.
