Shivam Dube Achieves Unique Birthday Record After Dismissing Ireland Benjamin Calitz

shivam dube creates unique birthday record after dismissing ireland benjamin calitz

Shivam Dube once again chipped in with his golden arm and scalped a wicket with the very first ball he bowled after being given the ball. The right-arm medium pace bowler dismissed Benjamin Calitz for 15. Dube achieved a unique birthday milestone and joined the list of Indians to take a wicket on their birthday. Dube, who was born on June 26 in 1993, is celebrating his 33rd birthday. Yuvraj Singh, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav are the other bowlers who have achieved this feat.

Interestingly, Dube is the first right-arm bowler to achieve this feat. He is a three-dimensional player on the field and has now cemented his spot. Dube, who made his India debut in 2019, cemented his spot in 2023.

Dube was a member of the 2024 and 2026 T20 World Cup-winning teams. He has age on his side and can play at least one more T20I. Dube has only played 4 ODIs, with his last appearance coming in 2024. He isn’t in the scheme of things to make it to the Test team.

No debut for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi missed out on making his debut in the series opener against Ireland as the team management retained the opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson. Sooryavanshi could make his debut in the second game. He is part of the squad for the England series and the Asian Games as well.

“Unfortunately, no. He’s a gun player. But obviously, we’ve got tremendous experience in the squad who have done brilliant in the past couple of series for India. So we are backing majority of our cricketers who have been doing absolutely marvelous throughout the season. So I think he will get his opportunity when the time comes. But for now, we are going with three genuine seamers, one all-rounder, and two spinners,” India captain Shreyas. Iyer said at the toss.

Sooryavanshi won the Orange Cap in IPL 2026 for piling up 776 runs. He played for India A following IPL and slammed 94 off just 29 balls in the final, that India won.
