According to Waters, both players share many of the qualities that make them successful on the court.
One of the biggest similarities is their patience. Both players stay calm during rallies and do not rush to finish points. Instead, they wait for the right opportunity before attacking. Their ability to stay composed helps them control the game, even in long rallies.
Their backhand game is another strength they have in common. Ben Johns is known for his strong two handed backhand, which helps him play accurate dinks and drop shots. Khlif also has a reliable backhand and is known for his quick hands at the kitchen line. He does a good job of returning difficult shots and keeping the ball in play. Their drop shots also help them slow the rally and put pressure on their opponents.
Both players also rely on smart tactics instead of only using power. Johns is known for placing the ball in the right areas and making good decisions during rallies. Khlif also mixes soft shots, controlled resets and quick counterattacks to keep his opponents guessing. Their ability to turn defense into attack is one of their biggest strengths.
