The 33-year-old Madhya Pradesh off-spinning all-rounder Saransh Jain has received his maiden call-up for India. He is included in the 15-member squad for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which begins on August 15. Jain was kept in the dark about his father’s surgery during a 2014 Madhya Pradesh club tour of Australia so that he may concentrate entirely on playing cricket. Upon his return, he was informed that his father had undergone facial surgery due to a cancer diagnosis.
Jain’s father gave him a note that said, “I am fine now, son. If you just play better, I will get well sooner.”
