Sophie Molineux-led Australia will square off against Hayley Matthews’ West Indies in the first semi-final of the Women’s 2026 T20 World Cup on Tuesday (June 30). The all-important fixture will be played at the Kennington Oval in London. Australia topped the Group A points table to punch their ticket to the semi-final. The former T20 WC Champions defeated India in their last game. Australia also bought a semi-final ticket for South Africa after defeating India. The Women in Blue only managed 3 wins in five matches to crash out. SA won 4 out of their five matches.

West Indies finished second in the Group B points table. They won 3 out of their five matches in the league stage. Third-placed Sri Lanka also won three matches but they failed to qualify due to a lower NRR than WI. England topped the table with five wins.

Australia are aiming to win the T20 WC title for the seventh time. They have registered two back-to-back hat-tricks of title wins. WI have won the title once.

“They’ve got a lot of class and a lot of firepower within their team. Also a lot of experience…you look at someone like Deandra Dottin, she’s a threat in all three phases of the game. She’s a fantastic player. I’ve had the privilege of playing with her, and just seeing how she goes about her cricket, she’s so fearless in the way that she approaches it, which sometimes can be quite scary because she can flick a switch pretty quickly…they’ve got that rawness within their side. They definitely pose a different threat,” Ashleigh Gardner, Australia’s vice-captain, said on the eve of the game.
