The 26-man United States of America squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026 was officially unveiled in New York on Tuesday, Match 26. This will be a significant tournament for the USMNT, as it will be held in the home country. Manager Mauricio Pochettino has assembled a squad anchored by several long-time European regulars, highlighted by AC Milan forward Christian Pulisic, Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams, and Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie.
The USA will compete in Group D of the tournament. Their campaign kicks off on June 12 against Paraguay in Inglewood, California. The team will then travel to face Australia on June 19 in Seattle, before returning to Inglewood to conclude the group stage against Turkiye on June 25.
Before the World Cup officially begins, the squad will play two final friendlies to finalize their preparations. They are scheduled to face Senegal on May 31 in Charlotte, followed by a final exhibition match against Germany on June 6 in Chicago.
USA History In FIFA World Cups
The USA famously reached the semifinals during the inaugural FIFA World Cup in 1930, securing a third-place finish that remains the joint-best result by any team outside Europe and South America.
Another legendary milestone arrived in 1950 with the “Miracle on Grass,” a stunning upset over heavily favored England.
In the modern era, the USA successfully hosted the event in 1994. Their last great run was in 2002, when they reached rhe quarter-final run by defeating arch rivals Mexico. Having consistently advanced to the knockout rounds in 2010, 2014, and 2022, the current squad hopes for a great tournament in front of a home crowd.
