Om Pawar and Aditya Nandal recovered from a game down to win the Open Men’s Doubles title at the Franklin Avsoy North Cup PWR100 in Gurugram. The pair defeated Aryan Chauhan and Apoorv Sharma 9-11, 11-6, 11-2 in the final after producing a dominant response in the closing stages of the match.
The final began with Aryan and Apoorv setting the pace. Both players looked comfortable in the longer rallies and managed to edge several crucial points late in the opening game. Their consistency under pressure helped them secure an 11-9 victory and take an early advantage.
Om and Aditya struggled to find rhythm during parts of the first game as Aryan and Apoorv controlled key exchanges around the kitchen line. However, the momentum began to shift once the second game got underway.
The eventual champions started playing with greater intent and improved their court coverage significantly. They reduced unforced errors and began applying more pressure on returns and third-shot exchanges.
The change in approach produced immediate results. Om and Aditya opened up a lead midway through the second game and maintained control until the finish. Their ability to win points at the net helped them level the match with an 11-6 victory.
With the contest moving into a deciding game, the momentum firmly sat on their side.
The third game proved to be one-sided as Om and Aditya raised their level once again. They dictated play from the opening points and denied Aryan and Apoorv any opportunity to build a comeback.
Their aggressive positioning and quick transitions allowed them to dominate rallies, while their opponents struggled to regain the consistency that had earned them the opening game. Point after point, the lead continued to grow.
By the closing stages of the match, Om and Aditya had complete control of proceedings. They wrapped up the decider 11-2 to complete an impressive turnaround and secure the championship. The victory adds another strong result to their season and earned them valuable PWR100 ranking points in one of North India’s emerging pickleball events.
For Aryan and Apoorv, the runners-up finish capped a solid tournament run despite falling short in the final. The pair showed quality throughout the opening game but were unable to halt the momentum generated by Om and Aditya across the final two games.
In the end, it was Om Pawar and Aditya Nandal who finished stronger, producing their best pickleball when the title was on the line.
The Franklin Avsoy North Cup brought top pickleball action to North India as players compete for valuable PWR100 ranking points in Gurugram, Haryana. It was held from May 29-30, 2026, at SESH Sports & Fitness, one of the region’s emerging pickleball venues.
Organized under the growing PWR tournament structure, the event is attracted players from across North India looking to strengthen their rankings and gain competitive experience. With fast courts and a packed schedule over two days, the tournament offered an important platform for both established and rising players to test themselves in a high-level environment.
The North Cup also highlights the continued expansion of pickleball in Haryana and the wider northern region, where participation and tournament opportunities have increased significantly over the past year.
