IPL 2025 Super over Rule: The rule of the superover has also changed before the start of the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Apart from this, the board has also changed many rules in the IPL, including the permission of the use of saliva to the slow over rate, removing the ban on the captain.
The first match of IPL 2025 is to be held on 22 March, between Royal Challazers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). With this match, the new rule of Super Over will be applicable in the IPL. Under this rule, both teams will be given a maximum of one hour to complete the super over. If the result is not found until then the result of the match will be recorded. Many more things have also been added with this one hour condition of the super over.

The BCCI hopes that the result of a tie match will come within an hour. According to the cricbage, a source of the board said, ‘As many super overs can be played till the winner’s decision is done if the match is tied. But the first super over should start within 10 minutes of the end of the match. If the first super over tie, the next super over should start after five minutes. The new rule of the super over will be applicable only in group matches. There will be no compulsion of one hour, including the finals where the winners are necessary.
The role of umpires and match referee has increased in this rule of the super over. In a one -hour compulsion match, the referee will decide which will be the last super over and will also inform both the captains. Apart from this, if the umpires and the match referee feel that a team or player is spoiling the time during this time, then he will be able to take action on it.
