Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans defeated Yashasvi Jaiswal-led Rajasthan Royals by 77 runs to move up from fifth place to second place in the IPL 2026 standings, on Saturday, May 9. The Gujarat-based team amassed 229/4 thanks to half-centuries from Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. Rashid Khan then took four wickets to dismiss the Royals for just 152 in 16.3 overs. In addition to the renowned Afghan spinner, Kagiso Rabada returned with figures of 2 for 33 in three overs after Jason Holder removed three RR players.
The Royals are no longer in the top four, while the Titans have risen to the second spot in the IPL 2026 points table. The Royals are currently in fifth place with 12 points from 11 games so far.

Gill and Sudharsan combined for 118 runs for the first wicket after being asked to bat first. Their knocks helped the former champions post a massive score of 229 for four. Washington Sundar (37 not out off 20 balls) had a strong hand for GT in the end.
The best bowler for RR was right-arm medium pacer Brijesh Sharma (2/47), while Ravindra Jadeja (1/34) and Yash Raj Punja (1/37) also claimed a wicket. Afghanistan’s top spinner, Rashid Khan, came back with outstanding figures of 4/33 to steal the show while defending the total. Jason Holder (3/12) and Kagiso Rabada (2/33) also performed well, helping the winners limit RR to 152 in 16.3 overs.
There will be two matches on Sunday, May 10. In the first game, Chennai Super Kings will take on the Lucknow Super Giants at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai at 3:30 PM IST. Then in the second of the double header Sunday, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will go against each other in the evening at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur at 7:30 PM IST.
