Mohsin Naqvi Plans Massive PCB Reset, Pakistan Cricket Set for Bold Changes

mohsin naqvi plans massive pcb reset, pakistan cricket set for bold changes

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has increased efforts to include more former players in the board’s decision-making process. The goal is to strengthen Pakistan cricket by including more veteran cricket players in the structure. While speaking to the media in Lahore, Naqvi disclosed plans to add three or four more former international players to the PCB’s advisory group.

Former Pakistani captains Misbah-ul-Haq and Sarfaraz Ahmed are already on the panel, and there are reports that Younis Khan and Mohammad Hafeez have also been asked to serve as advisors.

Mohsin Naqvi Plans Big Structural Changes

Naqvi thinks Pakistan cricket will do better if more ex-players are involved in important decisions.

“I am meeting some former players in this regard, as I believe that cricket-related matters should be decided by those with extensive knowledge of the game,” said Naqvi.

He emphasized that he wants the advisory council to have significant control over matters about leadership nominations, domestic cricket, and national teams.

“I want these cricket minds to take calls on cricketing matters pertaining to the national teams, cricket issues, and domestic cricket,” he said.

Naqvi has consistently insisted that while cricketing choices should be left to professionals, his major duty is to guarantee the PCB’s administrative and financial stability. He said that former players on the advisory council would increasingly provide guidance on issues like captaincy appointments and other general cricket regulations.

“We are in contact with many cricketers. When there are six or seven people instead of three, better decisions will naturally be made. I can offer suggestions, but there will be occasions when they are not followed. I have to trust them,” he said.

The most recent move is part of Pakistan cricket’s ongoing quest for more consistency following a period of numerous coaching and selection system changes. By designating former captain Waqar Younis as an advisor and consulting a variety of former internationals on cricket-related matters, Naqvi has already demonstrated a readiness to include former players in important capacities.

The PCB chairman intends to establish a more organized and expert-driven system where former players are crucial in determining the future course of Pakistani cricket by growing the advisory group.
