The PPA Tour Asia is making its way to Shenzhen this August, and it is hard to think of a better match. Shenzhen went from a small fishing village to one of the most futuristic cities in just a few decades. And now it is even getting a pro pickleball tournament to match that energy. The Shenzhen Open runs August 20th to 23rd at Bao’an Sports Center Gymnasium, and it is part of the PPA Tour Asia’s increasingly growing footprint. This is actually the second stop in China that the tour will make in 2026. And with $70,000 on the line and 500 ranking points up for grabs, it is pretty tempting to register.
What makes this even more fun for fans and players is the fact that you don’t have to watch it from the sidelines. The event runs age and rating categories alongside the pro matches, so amateurs get to play on the same courts, and at the same venue, as the pros they are watching. It’s part of PPA Asia’s ‘Play where the Pros Play’ concept, and it is rapidly becoming a signature part of this entire event.
Here’s how the prize money breaks down for the pros. Gold gets $2000 in singles and $5000 in doubles, with 500 points on offer. Silver gets $1000 and $3000, Bronze gets $800 and $1800, and it scales down from there through 4th place, the quarterfinals, and the Round of 16.
Shenzhen has always been a city that moves fast and builds forward. This August, pickleball gets to be a part of that story.
