After losing their first two games, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have had a terrible start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. So far, nothing has gone well for the three-time winners, and on Monday, they started the match against the Punjab Kings poorly after choosing to bat at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and losing Finn Allen and Cameron Green cheaply. Experts including Kevin Pietersen, Anil Kumble, Saba Karim, and Ravichandran Ashwin criticized KKR’s decision to bat first under cloudy skies.
Rain spoiled the match, as was to be feared, and after 3.4 overs, KKR was reeling at 25/2 with captain Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi at the crease when the first break occurred. The TV cameras saw KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan and the team’s CEO, Venky Mysore, having a heated conversation at the intermission.
The topic of the conversation is unknown, although it appeared heated from a distance. As the Bollywood celebrity spoke, Mysore nodded. The Bollywood Badshah also made some hand gestures. SRK had never been to an IPL 2026 KKR match before.
Shah Rukh Khan, his daughter Suhana Khan, and manager Pooja Dadlani went to the KKR vs. Punjab Kings match. Suhana watched from close quarters as SRK continued to converse with Venky Mysore as the cameras were fixed on him during the rain break.
“Looks like they are having a similar conversation. The Badshah of Bollywood, the owner of KKR. An intense chat with KKR CEO Venky Mysore,” said the host during the rain break show.
KKR made a few changes for the game against the Punjab Kings, due to the unavailability of Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine. Navdeep Saini and Rovman Powell were added to the team’s starting lineup. The Punjab Kings, on the other hand, did not alter their lineup in any way from their last game.
After losing to the Mumbai Indians to start their IPL 2026 season, KKR lost again to Sunrisers Hyderabad. When Cameron Green will bowl for KKR has dominated the whole season in the 19th edition of the competition.
The Australian all-rounder Green was purchased at auction for INR 25.20 crore, but he has not bowled in the competition yet. While Green is handling his duties, Cricket Australia’s official permission is still pending.
Green has been bowling in the nets, but the administration of the KKR think tank has insisted that the 26-year-old will soon begin bowling for the team.
