Vaibhav Sooryavanshi created history and etched his name in record books during the league stage game of IPL 2026 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Wednesday (April 22). Sooryavanshi now holds the record of being the quickest batsman to score 500 runs in IPL. He breached the 500-run mark off the 227th ball he faced in IPL 2026. Sooryavanshi is the first batter in IPL’s history to score 500 runs in less than 250 balls. As the fans celebrate his milestone, here we have a look at the five quickest batsmen to score 500 IPL runs –
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has become the first-ever batter to achieve this milestone. He made his IPL debut in 2025 and finished the season with 252 runs off 122 balls he faced. The RR opener has 254 in the ongoing season.
He is followed by Glenn Maxwell, who completed 500 runs in 260 balls. Maxwell made his IPL debut for Delhi Capitals (then known as Delhi Daredevils). He also played for Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Priyansh Arya followed by Virender Sehwag
Priyansh Arya sits in the third spot. The PBKS opener breached the 500-run mark in 278 balls. Priyansh made his IPL debut in 2025. He scored 475 runs in 17 innings in the season. He has 211 runs in five innings in IPL 2026. Priyansh is giving a tough competition to Sooryavanshi and one of them could be handed a maiden India call-up after IPL 2026. He was called up to India A squad in 2025.
Virender Sehwag is fourth in the list. He took 280 balls. Sehwag was once the quickest to achieve this milestone. He kicked off his IPL career with Delhi in 2008 and played for them till 2013. Sehwag played two IPL seasons for PBKS before retiring from Indian cricket. He coached the Punjab-based franchise from IPL 2016 to 2018.
MI’s Naman Dhir is also one of the quikcest batters and he took 283 balls. The right-handed batsman kicked off his IPL career with MI in 2024. He scored 140 runs in IPL 2024, 252 runs in 2025 and 154 runs in 2026.
