Alix Truong, who switched to pickleball from tennis, announced her partnership with Vietnamese brand Kamito on April 7 at an event titled “The Pickleball Princess”, marking her first official appearance as a brand ambassador in the country. The move saw a PPA Tour athlete align with a domestic brand, reflecting the growing profile of Vietnam’s pickleball market.
The event, held to introduce Truong in her new role, came at a time when the sport has been expanding rapidly in Vietnam, with increased participation and international exposure through major tournaments.

“After many times returning to Vietnam, I see pickleball increasingly developing,” Truong said. “Vietnamese athletes are gradually approaching the world’s high level through top tournaments. This is also the first time I have appeared in Vietnam as a brand ambassador.”
She also acknowledged the expectations that come with her new role. “Being called a pickleball princess also puts pressure on me. I am a Vietnamese-American tennis player, I didn’t think I would be welcomed so warmly,” she added.
Truong currently competes on the PPA Tour and holds a DUPR rating of 5.8. She has been ranked 11th in mixed doubles and 17th in women’s doubles in the PPA system. Her career includes more than 20 medals across tournaments, including gold medals at PPA Tour Vietnam and PPA Hangzhou, along with a runner-up finish in women’s doubles at the Texas Open.
Her signing followed Kamito’s association with recent performances in the region, including Ly Hoang Nam’s title win at a PPA Tour Asia event in Hanoi. The addition of Truong is expected to strengthen the brand’s presence in the sport.
Truong began her sporting career in tennis, where she was ranked No. 1 in both singles and doubles at the high school level. She transitioned to pickleball in 2020 and quickly progressed through the ranks, competing on the APP Tour before moving to the PPA Tour.

She has since represented teams such as the Miami Pickleball Club and the California Black Bears, building a reputation for an aggressive playing style and a strong two-handed backhand. Her approach to the game is reflected in her personal motto, “Stay Mean”.
With her appointment as a brand ambassador, Truong’s presence is expected to contribute to the visibility of pickleball in Vietnam, as the sport continues to grow across both professional and grassroots levels.
