Pakistani cricketer Khushdil Shah played a whirlwind innings of 44 in 14 balls to help Karachi Kings pull off a remarkable win over Lahore Qalandars. Chasing a target of 200, Karachi were 166-5 in the 17th over, needing 34 runs in the last three overs. The 18th over was bowled by Shaheen Afridi, and Khushdil went berserk, fetching 23 runs, including three sixes. He then scored two sixes off Haris Rauf to stun the Lahore Qalandars, arguably the best bowling team in PSL.
Khushdil hasn’t played for Pakistan since the Asia Cup 2025. In his short career of 38 games, he scored 434 runs and took six wickets before being dropped from the team. Following the heroics against Qalandars, Shah opened up on his snub from the Pakistan team and said that he scored a plethora of runs in domestic cricket, yet continues to be on the sidelines. He seemingly took a dig at certain players in the Pakistan team, saying that he doesn’t post on social media, nor does he post Quranic verses of injustice, but only focuses on working hard.
“Among all the players in Pakistan, I am the most different. Neither do I post Quranic verses on social media, saying that injustice has been done to me or is happening to me. Recently, in domestic cricket at number five or six, I scored 700-800 runs and also scored double hundreds, 150 plus as well, meaning I played big innings. But despite that, I am dropped from the team,” Khushdil told Ramiz Raja during the post-match show.
🚨Khushdil Shah: 🗣️ "I’m different from everyone else• I’m not on social media, nor do I hold grudges that I was treated unfairly. I scored 700, 800 runs at number 5 or 6 in domestic cricket, yet I was dropped from the team." pic.twitter.com/qmGvWDwHCq

Khudshil Shah’s Performance In PSL 2026
In PSL 2026, Khushdil has blown hot and cold. He has played nine matches and scored 109 runs at an average of 15. With the ball, he has fared slightly better, taking eight wickets, but has an economy of nearly 10. Following the brilliant knock, Khushdil Shah bagged the player of the match award. During the presentation, he said that he bats at a difficult position and wants to create maximum impact for the team.
“Our team needed this badly. The position I bat in, the aim is to win 1-2 matches from there. It’s the most difficult position to bat in (number 7). If you get out, the bowlers are next. I have been struggling in this position for the last 6-7 years. Want to create the maximum impact for the team with a few hits. Credit to the captain for taking the game deep,” said Khushdil Shah.
How Can Karachi Qualify?
Meanwhile, the win was crucial for Karachi as it kept their playoff hopes alive. With Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, and Islamabad United already in the playoffs, three spots are already taken, and four teams are competing for the final playoff berth. Karachi will face Quetta Gladiators on Saturday, April 25, and that will be a must-win game for the team. A win will keep them in the playoff race, and a defeat will knock them out. A win won’t guarantee a playoff berth, though, as they’ll need other results to go their way.
