Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Suyash Sharma achieved an incredible all-time record during his team’s thumping nine-wicket victory against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Monday (April 27) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazelwood stole the show with the new ball, Suyash delivered a splendid spell as he gave away just seven runs in four overs, while also dismissing Kuldeep Yadav.
Suryash came into the attack in the 10th over of the innings and did not concede a single boundary in his innings. The 22-year-old bowled a maiden in the 12th over of the innings. Meanwhile, he conceded four singles and three wides in his spell as the Capitals were bowled out for 75 runs.
Suyash Sharma Creates History
Suyash is the first spinner to bowl 20 bot balls in an IPL match in history. The record was previously shared by five players, which included Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Overall, Suyash is only the second player in history to bowl 20 dot balls in an innings. He equaled the record of Indian pacer Deepak Chahar, who also bowled the same number of deliveries without conceding a run while playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk in 2019.
There are a total of eight pacers in the league’s history who have delivered 19 dot balls in an innings. This list includes prominent Indian names such as Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Mohammed Shami, alongside Umran Malik, Munaf Patel, Sreeshanth, and Harshal Patel. Among overseas players, Doug Bollinger and Fidel Edwards are joint-second on the list.
Suyash also broke Harshal’s record for the most dot balls by an RCB player in an IPL match. No other player apart from these two have bowled more than 18 dot balls in an IPL Match for the franchise.

Meanwhile, Suyash bowled the joint-second most economical four-over spell in IPL’s history. Only Edwards, Nehra, and Chahal (six runs) have given away fewer runs after completing their full quota of overs.
Chahal is the only spinner as well as RCB player to bowl a more economical spell after bowling four overs than Suyash. He had given away just six runs in a match against CSK at Chepauk in 2019.
