Suryakumar Yadav took charge of the Mumbai Indians (MI) against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as they aim to revive their season with their playoff hopes almost over while Hardik Pandya is not in the playing XI for the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Indian T20I skipper won the toss and chose to bowl first with another big development as Rohit Sharma returned to the playing XI.
MI made four changes to the line-up as Rohit returned to the line-up while Corbin Bosch took Trent Boult’s place. The former captain is only an impact sub while Robin Minz was dropped. Raj Bawa took Hardik’s place. Deepa Chahar returned to the playing XI in place of Krish Bhagat.
Why Is Suryakumar Yadav And Not Hardik Pandya Leading Mumbai Indians vs Lucknow Super Giants?
Suryakumar revealed at the toss that Hardik is missing out due to an illness. While the ex-Gujarat Titans’ skipper’s future in the top job has come into doubt, there has been no hint of a mid-season change in captaincy from the five-time champions so far.
