pakistan cricketer stopped for traffic violation, cop questions 'how much do you get paid for…'

Pakistan’s batting all-rounder Irfan Khan was caught breaking traffic rules. On social media, a video of the incident is going viral at a rapid pace. The cricketer is seen seated in the front seat in the viral clip. He is reminded that he is not wearing a seat belt by a traffic police officer who approaches him. Additionally, he inquires as to whether the player should be penalized for breaking the regulations.

When the police saw that it was a Pakistani player seated in the front row of the vehicle, the exchange became lighthearted. Irfan was also questioned over the Hyderabad Kingsmen, his Pakistan Super League side, which finished second in the 2026 season.

Irfan Gets a Warning From Traffic Police

Before explaining the fine for the violation, the policeman asked Irfan if he had buckled up. Irfan was advised to use a seat belt for his personal safety and that he is a valuable member of the Pakistani community. The 23-year-old was then given a warning after the policeman jokingly threatened to fine him PKR 5,000.

Irfan made his debut for Pakistan in April 2024 and has since played in 14 T20Is and 9 ODIs. In ODIs thus far, he has taken three wickets while scoring 48 runs. He has scored 189 runs at a strike rate of 135 in T20Is. He scored 149 runs at a strike rate of 125.21 in 10 innings during the 2026 PSL.

Under the leadership of Australian Marnus Labuschagne, the Hyderabad Kingsmen had a memorable campaign that started with four straight losses before they won their next four to rekindle their hopes. After three more victories, they made it into the final, where they were eventually defeated by Babar Azam’s Peshawar Zalmi.

Babar’s two hundreds tied Fakhar Zaman’s PSL record of 588 runs in a single tournament, and Peshawar, who had only lost one game, were the favorites to win. After losing their first four league games, Hyderabad had a fantastic run in the tournament, defeating Islamabad United and Multan Sultans, the previous winners, in the playoffs.
