Jude Bellingham and Lionel Messi were involved in a tense exchange after England players protested two challenges by Argentina’s Leandro Paredes and Enzo Fernández, believing both deserved yellow cards during the FIFA World Cup semifinal. Soon after the clip went viral on social media, certain handles claimed that Bellingham told Messi that Ronaldo is better than him.
Did Bellingham Really Said Ronaldo Is Better Than Messi?
Meanwhile, the viral post claimed that Bellingham was asked by a reporter about what he said to Messi and responded saying, “I told him the world knows how the higher authorities help him get here.”
The post further claims Bellingham ended the exchange by telling Messi, “Ronaldo is better than you.”
However, the claims were busted by Bellingham himself. “We were discussing a foul, actually,” Bellingham said, as quoted by USA Today. “But it was nothing bad. I’m sure everyone will do their thing and make it a big deal. But no, it was nothing really.”
“I thought there was a foul earlier and he said, ‘Well what about the one on me?’ and I was kind of saying, ‘You’re strong enough to take it,’ you know what I mean?”a
