Rashid Khan and Manav Suthar were left embarrassed after a fielding blunder during Gujarat Titans’ (GT) clash against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday (April 26) as they missed a simple catch as both players had a breakdown in communication. The incident quickly went viral on social media and reminded fans of an old video of a mix-up between Pakistan players.
On the second delivery of the 18th over by Kagiso Rabada, Kartik Sharma played a shot towards square leg, which landed just near the boundary line. It looked like the youngster would lose his wicket as both Suthar and Rashid ran towards the ball. Suthar was stationed at deep backward square while Rashid was at deep mid-wicket. Both players saw each other also running towards the ball and did not attempt the catch. Ultimately, no one tried to take the catch, and the ball headed towards the boundary.
Rashid was left fuming at Suthar, and the misjudged attempt became the talk of the town on social media. Social media users recalled Saeed Ajmal’s dropped catch of Chris Gayle with Shoaib Malik watching on. The clip quickly spread across platforms of the internet and sparked some hilarious jokes and memes.

Talking about the match, the Gujarat Titans won the toss and chose to bowl first. The GT pacers ran riot on a pitch that had a lot of bounce and pace on offer, which was an uncharacteristic surface at Chepauk. The Titans lost three wickets in the powerplay with Sanju Samson (11), Urvil Patel (4), and Sarfaraz Khan (0) departing early. In fact, the hosts had just 43 runs on the board after 10 overs.
However, they managed a solid recovery with 115 runs coming in the second half of the innings. CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was the star of the show as he regained form with his maiden half-century of the season. He reached the milestone in 49 balls in what is the slowest effort of his career. As far as the Titans are concerned, Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers for them with a fiery spell in which he took three wickets and gave away just 25 runs. Arshad Khan got two wickets but conceded 44 runs.
Playing only the second IPL match of his IPL career, Suthar bowled three overs and gave away just 22 runs while taking the wicket of Dewald Brevis. Meanwhile, Rashid bowled just one over in which he conceded 21 runs. The Afghanistan cricket legend was only brought into the attack by Shubman Gill in the 14th over of the innings.
