Delhi Capitals (DC) handed Punjab Kings (PBKS) their fourth consecutive loss of the ongoing edition of IPL 2026 with a fantastic chase of 211 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Monday night. The Axar Patel-led DC team overcame several setbacks to secure a three-wicket victory and kept themselves alive in the IPL 2026 playoffs race. Delhi Capitals became the first team in the IPL to successfully chase down a 200-plus total in Dharamsala when they did so with six balls remaining. The Chennai Super Kings’ chase of 193 against Kings XI Punjab in 2010 held the previous record.
Additionally, DC’s pursuit of 210 against the Lucknow Super Giants in Vizag last year was surpassed by this, making it their second-highest run chase in IPL history.
DC Stay Alive In Playoffs Race
After early setbacks, David Miller and captain Axar Patel (56 off 30) led a counterattacking comeback, adding a vital 64-run partnership. Madhav Tiwari and Ashutosh Sharma’s contributions completed the chase.
Priyansh Arya’s 33-ball 56 earlier helped PBKS reach 210/5, but DC bowlers bounced back from a bad start. Cooper Connolly and Shreyas Iyer put up an 83-run partnership, but DC finished a record chase, and eventually, PBKS had to face another heartbreaking defeat.
With 10 points from 12 games, Delhi Capitals are now in seventh place. To move up to 14, they need to defeat Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders in their final two games. However, given their subpar Net Run Rate (-0.993), victories might not be enough on their own.
The race may be decided by NRR because teams like the Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings already have 12 points. In the hopes that teams like Punjab Kings and CSK lose points, Delhi also needs positive outcomes elsewhere. Their chances of making the playoffs would end with any further defeats.
