Mirra Andreeva ended Maja Chwalinska’s dream run at the French Open 2026, defeating her in the final to claim her maiden Grand Slam title. Chwalińska had arrived in Paris as a qualifier and stunned the tennis world with a series of brilliant performances en route to the championship match. Andreeva, meanwhile, continued her rapid rise in the sport, capping off a brilliant tournament with a composed display on the biggest stage. The final wasn’t competitive as Andreva steamrolled Chwalinska, winning the match 6-3, 6-2, but Maja could still hold her head high and take home life-changing money.
Before the tournament, Chwalinska had earned $864,030 (8.20 crore approx) in career prize money; however, she earned more than her lifetime earnings at the French Open alone.
French Open Prize Money
Following progressive parity policies at the Roland Garros, the women’s singles champion and the runner-up receive completely equal pay compared to their male counterparts. Thus, champion Mirra Andreeva will take home €2.8 million, which is approximately $3.28 million (₹27.7 crore), while Maja Chwalinska will earn €1.4 million, roughly $1.64 million (₹13.9 crore).
