What is Abi?
The upa-a announced earlier that from September 1, 2025, all pickleball paddles musthre to the pef standard level of 0.385 when new and MUF CEF CEILING of 0.405 WHEN Old.
This new “standard breaking-in procedure” is where abi come in. Abi is a process that monitors the physical structure of paddles in a systematic manner. The results gained from the abi test are used for pef measurement.
How does it work?
It is a technical process. As per a white paper published on April 11, 2025, Pickle Pro Labs Uses Abi in Conjunction with Average Deflection Force (ADF) and Paddle-Ball Coeficient of Restitution (PBCOR).
Once Complete, an “Edge Cycling Method” Applies 10 to 15 degrees of Force in Both Directions to the Topmost Port of the Paddle to Determine if there has been done any structural decision. This motion is reepeated at least 20 times.
This lab testing process for pickleball paddles will not only determine the quality of the paddles but also help players use the best only ons to play their desired shot
