vaibhav sooryavanshi indirect dig at critics after india a heroics in one-day cricket

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi once again showed that he is a big-match player by smashing 94 off just 29 balls. The left-handed batsman created history by becoming the fastest-ever half-century in the history of List A cricket. He breached the 50-run mark in only 11 balls. He was racing towards his maiden century for India A but was dismissed. Batting with a strike rate of 324.14, Sooryavanshi smashed 8 sixes and 10 fours in his knock. He added 132 runs for the first wicket with Priyansh Arya in only 8.5 overs before getting dismissed.

Sooryavanshi was bestowed with the Player of the Match award following his heroics for India. During the presentation ceremony, Sooryavanshi answered his critics who think that he is only suited for T20s.

“I didn’t think too much, just wanted to make the most of the first 10 overs and execute what I had planned. There was no pressure, but I was trying to execute the plans that were not working. I talked to the coaches and worked on it in practice. Today, the plan was executed and the result came out on its own. I have learned a lot, but I’ve played 50 overs a lot. People don’t seem to know. (laughs) Different conditions, different pitches, a little different to play, but it was fun and a good series,” he said.

Sooryavanshi has scored 564 runs in 13 List A matches he has played so far. His tally includes a century and two fifties. Sooryavanshi didn’t score a century in the ongoing series.

The 15-year-old recently earned his maiden T20I call-up and he will travel to Ireland and England. After the UK tour, he will also accompany the team to Japan for the Asia Cup. Sooryavanshi isn’t in the scheme of things in ODI cricket.

India A win tri-series

The India A cricket team won the tri-series by defeating Sri Lanka in the final. Courtesy of Sooryavanshi’s heroics, the visiting team put on a big total of 377 on the board. Sri Lanka breached the 300-run mark and finished at 311, losing the game by 66 runs. India A will now play two unofficial Tests against the home team.
