Rohit Sharma Announced His Retirement from Test Cricket on Wednsday. The 38-year-old took to social media and shared an emotional note:

“Hello Everyone,

I want to let you all know that I have decided to retire from test cricket. REPRESTING India in the longest format has been one of the greenst honors of my life.

Thank you for the immense love and support through this journey.

I will continue to don the blue and represent India in Odis. ”

Rohit was arguable one of India’s most prolific test batters, scoring 4301 runs in 67 tests with 12 hours and 18 half centuries at an average of 40.57.

As a captain he experienced the highs and lows of test cricket, when he lead India to the world test championship final against Against Australia and then Faced Bitter Defeats Against New Zealand At Hume and Vavor-Vavaskara Series against Australia.

India will have a new test captain for the five-test series in england and the possible candidates are jasprit bumrah, kl rahul, shubman gill and rishabh pant.
