Mumbai Indians (MI) are taking on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 33rd match of the IPL 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, April 23. This is a blockbuster encounter between two sides with the most number of titles, and is referred to as the IPL’s El Clasico. However, both sides are now struggling at the bottom end of the points table. When the two sides took the field, it was noticeable, that the CSK players were wearing black armbands. This was done as a great gesture of support for one of his teammates.
CSK pacer Mukesh Choudhary’s mother breathed her last recently, which forced him to return back to hus home in Vhilwara. In this sad time, CSK posted a message on their
“The CSK family mourns the passing of Mukesh Choudhary’s mother. We stand with Mukesh and his family, keeping them in our thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time,” the franchise had posted.

No MS Dhoni Vs MI
MS Dhoni suffered a calf strain before the start of the competition. He is yet to recover from this injury setback. In fact, he is yet to play a single game in IPL 2026. However, he was seen practicing with the team extensively fo the first time since his injury layoff. He was even seen in long wicketkeeping sessions.
There were multiple reports that Dhoni would be finally making his return in the MI Vs CSK game, but fans will have to wait a little more. It will be interesting to see if Dhoni returns for CSK’s next match, against Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 26 (Sunday) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
