No Cummins, Starc And Hazlewood As Australia Name Squads For Pakistan, Bangladesh Tours

no cummins, starc and hazlewood as australia name squads for pakistan, bangladesh tours

Australia have announced the squads for the white-ball tours of Pakistan and Bangladesh. The team is set to play three ODIs in Pakistan from May 30, and three ODIs and as many T20Is in Bangladesh from June 9. Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, who are part of the IPL, have been rested for the series. U19 captain Ollie Peake and uncapped all-rounder Liam Scott have been included in the squad for the three ODIs against Pakistan.

Meanwhile, batsman Joel Davies was included in the T20I squad for the Bangladesh tour as Australia look to build a strong core for the next World Cup and 2028 Olympics. Similarly, pacers Rilee Meredith and Billy Stanlake will lead the charge of Australia’s bowling on the Pakistan leg of the tour.

In the absence of some big names, chief selector George Bailey said that it will provide opportunities to young players.

“It’s always exciting to see new players get an opportunity to play international cricket and be a part of the national team,” Bailey said.

“The blend of experienced players coupled with new or returning players will provide a nice mix for these sub-continent tours.

“Continuing to provide opportunities for players to develop across a broad range of conditions and experiences is important and will continue to be a focus over the next 18 months to two years across the calendar and with future campaigns in mind.”

Mitchell Marsh To Lead

The Australian team will be led by Mitchell Marsh, while Cameron Green, Josh Inglis, Adam Zampa, and Nathan Ellis are some of the players who are included in all three squads. Glenn Maxwell, one of the most decorated T20I batsmen, has been dropped from the T20I squads. Meanwhile, the pace trio of Hazlewood, Starc and Cummins will continue to prepare for the World Test Championship series.
