Rajasthan Royals are confident going into Qualifier 2 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in dominant fashion and showcasing their potent batting firepower. They will now play Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans in a knockout match to determine the season’s second finalist. The game is set to take place on May 29 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the reigning champions, won Qualifier 1 and are already waiting for the other in the final.
The Gujarat Titans are coming off a dismal show against RCB in their last encounter. Rahul Tewatia’s 68 was the only bright spot in GT’s otherwise lacklustre batting and bowling performance as they were swept out for just 162 while chasing a huge mark of 255.
However, against SRH, the Rajasthan Royals appeared to be in excellent form. The young prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stole the show with a scorching 97 off 29 balls, hitting five boundaries and 12 sixes. As RR won by 47 runs to secure their spot in Qualifier 2, their bowlers—led by Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger—also put up a disciplined display.
