SummerSlam 2026 is less than a month away and WWE has confirmed a handful of matches so far. Both the men’s world championships will be defended at the biggest party of the summer. Since SummerSlam will be a two-night event, the show is likely to have 14 matches. Roman Reigns will defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins in the main event of the show while Oba Femi will face Brock Lesnar in a Hell in a Cell match. IYO Sky, the winner of the Queen of the Ring tournament, will challenge Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship. Here, we have a look at the predicted matches for the show –
CM Punk vs Cody Rhodes
CM Punk made a shocking WWE return on Raw and defeated Sami Zayn to win the Undisputed WWE Championship. Cody Rhodes was initially scheduled to challenge Sami for the title. Since Cody’s title rematch was cancelled, he looks set to get his match at SummerSlam.
Not to forget, Punk teased a match against Cody before he took a break from WWE. Their match looks set to take place at the biggest party of the Summer. Punk will enter the match as the champion while Cody will be the challenger.
Gunther vs Nick Aldis
WWE has been teasing a match between Gunther and Nick Aldis and it could take place at SummerSlam. Even though he hasn’t had a match since 2023, he hasn’t retired from WWE yet and could finally make his debut for WWE at SummerSlam.
Aldis joined WWE as Smackdown’s General Manager in October 2023 and has been performing an on-screen role since then. Many on-screen personalities have had matches in WWE and Aldis could become the latest official to make his in-ring return. He is a former TNA Champion.
Penta vs Chad Gable
Penta looks all but set to defend the Intercontinental Championship against Chad Gable at SummerSlam. WWE has announced a Gauntlet match to pick the number one contender for the title.
Gable, Dragon Lee, Joe Hendry, Dominik Mysterio, Rusev, Ethan Page and Dragon Lee are seven superstars in the Gauntlet match. Given his recent success in AAA, Gable is expected to win this match and get a title shot at SummerSlam.
Gable was in contention to win the title in 2024 but missed out. He wasn’t included in the Wrestlemania match in 2024. Sami defeated Gunther to end his historic title reign at the biggest show of the year.
