The BCCI is on alert after violence in Belfast. India are set to play two T20Is against Ireland on June 26 and 28 in the city, and the current situation has heightened concerns for the BCCI. Following a recent knife attack in Belfast, violence against immigrants was reported in the city. The video of the attack went viral on social media, escalating tensions as protests broke out in several cities. Masked protesters set multiple vehicles on fire, targeted shops and business establishments, and damaged public property.
A BCCI source revealed that the board is closely monitoring the current situation in Belfast. Cricket Ireland had also said that it is keeping an eye on the situation in the affected areas.

New Era Of Indian Cricket
Meanwhile, the series will mark the new era of T20 cricket in India under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer. Following Suryakumar Yadav’s poor performance, the board dropped the World Cup-winning captain and handed over the leadership to Shreyas Iyer for the UK tour. It also handed the much-awaited debut to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who set the stage on fire in the IPL. Vaibhav was dubbed to open alongside Abhishek Sharma, forming one of the most destructive opening pairs in the world. Sanju Samson was also included in the team following a great run, while Ishan Kishan also retained his place. Tilak Varma, meanwhile, was promoted as T20 vice-captain.
