Boxer Hitesh Gulia Created History on Sunday Night at the World Boxing Cup as He Became the first Indian to win a gold medal at the event, that took place in foz do iguaƧu, brazil.

Gulia, A 70kg Boxer, Topped The Podium After His Opponant, Odel Kamara of England, Gave a Walkover in the Final. As a result, gulia – who had alredy made history by deterging the first Indian to Reach the Final at the Event -Clinched the Gold Medal. It is also India’s only gold medal at the tournament.

Gulia Gave a Strong Account of Himself through the competition. The 20-year-old boxer from Jhajjar, Haryana, Had Earlier Defeated Makan Traore of France with a Unanimous 5-0 Decision in the Semifinals.

A sailor with the Indian navy, gulia has performed consistently at the National Level in Recent Times. He Previous Won a Gold Medal at the Senior National Boxing Championships, Followed by another gold at the 38th Uttarakhand National Games.
Abhinash Jamwal, The other Indian Boxer in the Fray, Lost in the Men’s 65kg Final Against Yuri Reis. Jamwal was defeated by a unanimous 0-5 decision and had to settle for the silver medal.

With this, India’s campaign at the world boxing cup came to an end. It also marked the Indian boxers’ First International Tournament Since Their Disappointing Run at the 2024 Paris Olympics Last Year.

Overall, India Won One Gold, One Silver, and Four Bronze Medals at the World Boxing Cup.
