Former India opener Wasim Jaffer has picked two teams that can finish in the top two in the IPL 2026 points table. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Jaffer picked Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as two teams. With 6 wins and 13 points, Punjab Kings (PBKS) sit in the second spot. They lost the top spots after back-to-back defeats in the past two matches. SRH now sit in the top position in the table. They have 7 wins and 14 points.
“Punjab can still make it in the top two. They also have everything it takes, it is a different thing that things are not working. I am sure they will address the catching. Those who have not played will not understand, picking the white-ball under lights is not that easy. I am sure they will not leave any stone unturned. They still have a chance to finish in the top two,” Jaffer said on his YouTube channel.
“Phil Salt is not available for RCB, which is a concerning sign. They rely very heavily on Virat. If he gets out, we have seen they struggle. So they also have concerns. Salt is an explosive opener. He is out for a few games. So it was looking like RCB was great too, but the way they have lost those few games, they also have worries. So I think Punjab and SRH have better chances of finishing in the top two,” he added.
PBKS, SRH form in IPL 2026
Punjab Kings made a dream start to their IPL 2026 season and they won their first two matches before the washout against Kolkata Knight Riders. PBKS registered four back-to-back wins before losing to Rajasthan Royals a month after the start of the league. PBKS have now lost three back-to-back games in the season.
SRH kicked off their campaign with a defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They only managed 1 win in their four 4 matches. SRH enjoyed a dive-match winning streak before losing to Kolkata Knight Riders. They defeated PBKS in their previous fixture.
