Ignored for the one-off Test match against Afghanistan, Auqib Nabi has finally been rewarded by the BCCI and he will travel to Sri Lanka with the India A cricket team for two unofficial Tests. The right-arm pacer will have an opportunity to impress the selectors before the Test series against Sri Lanka, scheduled to be played in August. Nabi shone in the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy season and finished as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker. He scalped 60 wickets in 10 matches.
Courtesy of Nabi’s heroics, Jammu and Kashmir went on to lift the trophy for the first time in history. Nabi also performed well in the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy season and finished as the second-highest wicket-taker with 44 scalps.
Nabi earned his maiden IPL contract after the Ranji 2025-26 season and joined Delhi Capitals for a high price pf Rs 8.40 crore in the IPL 2026 mini-auction.
Dhruv Jurel to lead
Dhruv Jurel has been appointed the captain of India A cricket team. He has led the India A team in the past. Jurel was India’s vice-captain in the 2020 U-19 World Cup.
Sai Sudharsan is also part of the team. He will open the innings with Ruturaj Gaiwkad. Sudharsan batted at number 3 in the ongoing one-off Test match against Afghanistan. Ruturaj has yet to make his Test debut.
Devdutt Padikkal, who is part of the Test team, has been appointed the vice-captain of the India A team. Gurnoor Brar is also part of the team along with Ayush Badoni. Capped pacer Anshul Kamboj will lead the pace attack. N Jagadeesan is the second wicketkeer-batter in the team.
