Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will go head-to-head in a vital match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday (April 27) at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium as the tournament kickstarts a vital week of action with the race to reach the playoffs heating up. With the second month of the 19th edition upon us, this match marks the first reverse fixture of the season for both teams, respectively.
In the first meeting between the two sides, which took place on April 19 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the Capitals won a last-over thriller by six wickets. KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs were the stars of the show with half-centuries, while David Miller held his nerve to complete the victory for the Delhi-based side in a thrilling final over.
This was only one of two matches RCB has lost this season. The defending champions have started the season with five victories in seven games and are second on the table as things stand. They returned to winning ways after the setback against RCB with a win over the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Friday (April 24).
On the other hand, DC are coming into the game of a defeat against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in a fixture that saw them set the unwanted world record of conceding the highest successful chase in the history of T20 cricket. The Axar Patel-led team lost the match with seven balls to spare despite putting 264 runs on the board. KL Rahul’s knock of 152 went in vain.
As far as the Capitals are concerned, they are 7th on the table with just three wins in seven games. They have lost four matches so far this season and have just one victory to show in their last five appearances.
Overall, the two teams have played each 34 times in the history of the IPL. RCB leads the head-to-head with 20 victories, including one win in the Super Over. The Capitals have won 13 fixtures so far against the Men in Red and Gold. One game between the two teams was washed out.
The two teams have played each other 11 times in Delhi, where also RCB has dominated DC with seven victories while the hosts have just four wins to show for.
Both teams have injury concerns as Phil Salt is dealing with an injury and will again miss out. He did not play for the 2025 champions in the win against GT, where Jacob Bethell took his place in the team. On the other hand, Lungi Ngidi is unlikely to play for the home team after his nasty injury against PBKS.
