New Delhi. In the first match of IPL, the black shadow of rain is hovering. The match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore will begin the 18th season of IPL. A day before this match, there has been drizzle in Kolkata. The practice session of the two teams at Eden Gardens on Saturday ended prematurely due to continuous drizzle on the eve of the start of the season played between KKR-RCB. The practice of teams started at five in the evening, but it started raining around six in the evening. Due to which the players had to go outside the field.
The Eden Gardens is one of the few venue where there is an arrangement to cover the entire ground. This keeps the surface of the game safe. The New Alipur office of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released ‘Orange Alert’ for Friday and Saturday. It has warned of thunderstorms, strong winds, electricity, hail and moderate rainfall in many districts including Kolkata. IMD said, “On Friday, Jhargram, East and West Midnapore, Bankura, Purulia, East Bardhaman, Hooghly and Howrah are likely to receive strong winds, electricity, hailstorm and light to moderate rainfall.”
